Neck Laceration Protection Update

Starting August 1, 2024 all youth, junior and high school co-ed and girls teams, and on-ice officials under the age of 18 are required to wear neck laceration protection (NLP).

NLP must be worn properly with no alterations. Hanging throat protectors do not qualify as NLP for any players, including goalies.

The first violation for not wearing NLP will be player substitution and team warning. Further violations will result in misconduct penalties.

If a player loses their NLP during the game they are allowed to play until the next stoppage. However, at the stoppage, player must replace NLP or be substituted with another player.
